A Journey That Shaped Me — Inside and Out
My journey with ELGi began in September 2019, and over the years, it has become more than just a workplace. It's been a space where I have grown professionally, personally, and emotionally.
I started my journey at ELGi in the ROCD and RCD machine shops, gaining hands-on experience in machining operations. During the pandemic, I transitioned into the Top Block Assembly area, which further broadened my skills and understanding of production processes. Today, I’m responsible for managing the ROCD and RCD machine shops, where I focus on streamlining operations and driving efficiencies. Each role has helped me become more versatile and solution-oriented, with every task reinforcing the value of our work, not just for ELGi but for the customers we serve.
Rising Through a Crisis — The COVID Chapter
One of the most challenging phases in my journey was during the COVID-19 pandemic. Amidst uncertainty, ELGi's safety protocols and care for employees had a lasting impact on me. Wearing multiple masks and face shields, sanitizing machines after every shift, and maintaining distance became the new normal. Even under pressure, our team continued to keep production running. I truly felt protected and valued.
Purpose in Every Process — A Day in My Life
My day starts with a Gemba walk, followed by reviewing process improvements, monitoring machining performance, and coordinating with cross-functional teams. I focus on driving shop floor enhancements, implementing safety practices, and supporting productivity improvements. In addition to managing day-to-day operations, I actively contribute to EWM practices and support the SMT team, ensuring smoother workflows and stronger inventory management. Every small improvement feed into our larger goal of operational excellence. Being part of this continuous improvement journey is both fulfilling and motivating.
Learning, Leading, and Celebrating Wins
One of the proudest moments in my ELGi journey was winning the Technical Contest during Technology Day 2024. Competing with skilled minds and being recognized for my work gave me a huge confidence boost.
One more highlight in my journey was our team's participation in the IMTMA Productivity Championship Awards (PCA) 2025. I initiated the first-round presentation and was part of the team that progressed to the second round. Building on this success, our case study, "Productivity and Efficiency Enhancement in Aircenter Machine Shop: A Strategic Approach," has been shortlisted for presentation at the National Productivity Summit 2025 at Le Meridien, Ahmedabad. Preparing this case study helped me enhance my communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills. It is a proud moment to represent our team at a prestigious national forum.
Growth Beyond the Machine Shop
My journey at ELGi hasn't just been about professional development — it's helped me grow as an individual. The exposure, stability, and sense of purpose I've gained here have translated into confidence and progress in all aspects of life. ELGi has given me the platform to pursue personal goals and live with greater clarity and balance.
