This World Earth Day, let’s commit to a sustainable tomorrow.
World Earth Day.
It is the day our Mother Earth gets the spotlight and this spotlight should never be switched off, for it is critical for every stakeholder to embark on a behavioural change for the better.
Why, you may ask.
Essentially, our global health is under pressure!
If healthy people, a healthy society and a healthy planet are to be obtained, it is important to implement the Farm to Fork strategy, which is an integral part of the European Green Deal.
As you know, Europe strives to become the first climate-neutral continent by 2050. With the European Green Deal, every member state has to commit to providing food that is healthy, sustainable and affordable. Furthermore, the Deal encourages member states to mobilize all producers across the entire food chain to contribute. After all, the quality of life will improve once we start living in a cleaner environment and eating healthier. This will, in turn, help in restoring our earth.
The European Green Deal is an all-inclusive approach where everyone – from the policymakers to citizens like ourselves - have to commit. Furthermore, the Farm to Fork initiative covers the entire value chain from the producer to each of us. Since we all have to eat, we have the choice of what we eat, what we buy and where we buy our food from. The key is to make healthy food affordable and accessible for everybody. Therefore, the whole chain of food processors, sub-suppliers of side products such as packaging and many more must contribute.
Here, we can also play a key role in a lot of ways.
At ELGi, our mission is to raise awareness among our network of people, channel partners, suppliers and even our investors. We can all effect change by offering the right compressor for the right Food and Beverage application.
To begin with, we can start training everyone on how to size compressor systems correctly, the application engineering side is never to be underestimated. Through this, we can offer properly sized systems that run flat out with a limited regulation range. This is especially critical as the best systems are those that run loaded and as close as possible to their optimum performance point. Furthermore, systems should be running at the lowest possible pressure at the same time, which not only saves energy and reduces costs, but also increase reliability, since continuously loaded and flat outrunning compressors tend to run more steadily thermally.
Along with sizing, we have to understand compressor technology better. At the outset, we should evaluate the usage of food grade oil when using oil injected compressors in combination with oil water separators to clean the condensate. Additionally, oil contamination of air has to be put high on the agenda, so as to promote the use of oil free compressors. Alternatively, we must evaluate the use of our disruptive AB series that can even deliver microbiological free air, condensate at drinking water quality and this is at a much higher efficiency versus traditional oil free compressors.
The clock is ticking, time goes by and we must act now. In our day-to-day lives, we need to train and educate customers by keeping the focus and delivering a persistent message around sustainability. As we all grow up, we have to ensure to raise awareness across the globe, with the help of each channel partner since they are the closest to our end customer, to the food processors, to those who are at the heart of the value chain. And the better we can help them, the better we can restore our Mother Earth.
So, let’s adopt the European Green Deal throughout our community.
