Celebrating Women of ELGi on International Women’s Day – Part 1
Women navigate life's ups and downs with inherent grace and strength, enriching everyone around them. Let us take a moment to appreciate and understand how they manage to do it all.
We asked a few questions related to life and work to the women of ELGi, and they shared some interesting answers. Read on to know more:
Michela Morando, ELGi, Italy
Who are you beyond your professional role at ELGi?
I am a very "technical" person even outside of work: I like to be organised in my private life and in household chores, to better optimise my free time. I really like both reading and listening to music. When the season allows, I like to take long walks in nature or swim in the sea.
What are some activities or hobbies that bring you joy and fulfillment in your personal life?
I really like reading and broadening my knowledge; I love essays, particularly those with a scientific theme or those that deal with topics related to visual arts and classical art. Another thing that relaxes me a lot in my free time is classical music, I love both listening to and performing classical music.
Keila Domingues, ELGi, Brazil
How do you balance your professional responsibilities with your personal interests and priorities?
I use the Pareto Principle to monitor how I spend my time. I prioritise tasks first and then start my day. On a personal level, I allocate time to immerse myself in nature. I understand that holistic well-being contributes towards growth at work.
Why is it important for employees in the workplace to prioritise self-care and personal fulfillment outside of their professional responsibilities?
I firmly believe that a healthy work-life balance not only improves the quality of life but also enhances professional effectiveness.
Srilatha P, ATS-ELGi
How do you balance your professional responsibilities with your personal interests and priorities?
I believe in giving my 100% wherever I go. During the weekdays, I am an employee who has her set role at work, and on my days off, I am a mother who is at the beck and call of her son. I have raised a foodie, so on my holidays, I am usually a master chef, cooking up a storm for my son.
Why is it important for employees in the workplace to prioritise self-care and personal fulfillment outside of their professional responsibilities?
As an individual, you play two roles – at work and at home. Both require effort and come with their own responsibilities. If you don’t prioritise yourself, you won’t be able to commit properly in both places. So, always make time for yourself and your hobbies.
Serena Viglietti, ELGi, Italy
Who are you beyond your professional role at ELGi?
I am a wife, a mother to two beautiful kids, and a dog-mother. I lead a very active lifestyle, and the gym is one of my favorite places to be. I also love traveling, music, sitting by the sea, and most importantly, setting personal goals for myself every year, that I strive to achieve.
What are some activities or hobbies that bring you joy and fulfillment in your personal life?
I focus on myself by indulging in activities like gymming, tennis, and running. I love traveling, and I ensure I explore a new destination every summer.
The answers shared by these women are a testament to how women truly do it all. ELGi is proud to have such team members who inspire us every day with their contributions to both our organisation and society, and we are actively working towards diminishing the gender gap and creating a more inclusive and holistic environment.
