You might wonder why an air compressor manufacturer is talking about running a marathon. The fact is, at ELGi we are driven by a commitment to personal growth and improvement. Over the years in the compressor business, we have built a strong foundation in the air compressor market by constantly evolving with technology, quality and innovation.
Whether it is our products, our people or the organisation at large, we believe that constant growth is central to our philosophy of being #AlwaysBetter. Last year, ELGi embarked on a mission – to become the second largest compressor manufacturer in the world by 2027. The mission was titled Conquer K2 after the world’s second tallest mountain, and the most difficult to climb. And we successfully achieved a symbolic ascent of 28251 MILES !
“My wife and my two kids often join me for runs. I’ve run five marathons with them. It’s a fun and constructive family activity. I have always taught my kids to put health and fitness first. And what better way than to lead by example!”, adds Harinath, an active member of Coimbatore Runners.
The Marathon as well as the challenge was an overwhelming experience for our employees.
“It was an awesome experience. We were cheerfully encouraged by people on the road – friends, family and spectators. Even the music played by a band really lifted our spirits in the last few kilometres. I finished in exactly 2 hours 11 minutes. Yes, I remember the exact time,” adds Satish Kini, a senior member of the ELGi family.
ELGi is all set for the Coimbatore Marathon this year as well. To commemorate our global presence, our reach over 100 countries, we have put together the #ELGI100KMCHALLENGE. In collaboration with Strava, a social fitness network that is used to track cycling, running, and swimming activities, among others, using GPS data.
Strava has developed an app to create the largest engaged base of athletes in the world, and on the app ELGi has the Running Club community, where people can sign up to participate. Participants can run, walk, jog, cycle or swim and attempt to record a total of 100km as they warm up for the event. The first 100 participants to do so will be recognised at the Coimbatore Marathon on October 7, 2018.
We invite you to be a part of the Coimbatore Marathon.
Marathon Date: October 7, 2018
