Women at ELGi #InspiringTheFuture – Padmavathy A
“Entrepreneurship is about being able to face failure, manage failure and succeed after failing.”
Entrepreneurship is a dynamic career choice for women. With room for endless opportunities and flexibility to run operations, this field has much to offer for a woman’s career growth. Furthermore, this form of entrepreneurship has boosted job creation.
Yet, female entrepreneurs face their own unique set of hurdles. From the lack of funding assistance, to facing stereotypes - all while keeping the balance. Their entrepreneurial journey is undoubtedly tough.
However, despite the challenges that come their way, female entrepreneurs persevere to achieve their goals, come what may.
Today, we would like to share one such story of our partners, Padmavathy A from Jay Hari Enterprises, who worked hard to achieve her entrepreneurial goals, while tackling the challenges she faced.
Why did you choose to be an entrepreneur?
I’ve wanted to be an entrepreneur since childhood.
How has your journey been running a business?
It’s been tough. Lots of challenges.
In your opinion, why is it important that more women become entrepreneurs in the near future?
According to me, women should be independent. They should be able to stand on their own feet to create their own empire.
What do you think helped you get so far in your career? How can we mentor young girls to dream big?
Over the years, I’ve faced discrimination which shaped me to be more daring and inspired me to be more self-motivated. Of course, I would like to credit the immense support I’ve received from my family.
To young girls, my advice is this: Be passionate about your dream. Focus and make it real, come what may.
Do you feel that you have achieved what you wanted to?
I still have a long way to go! Yet, I am steering in the right direction to achieve what I want.
What is one piece of advice that you would share with aspiring entrepreneurs?
Choose the field that you are interested in. Stay focused. Over the course of their journey, aspiring entrepreneurs must develop the ability to handle challenges and tough situations.
More importantly, it is important to keep moving forward.
What advice would you give your 20-year-old self?
I’d like to tell her this:
It’s the age to put the world beneath your feet. It’s the golden year of your life. Dare and move forward!
How important is it for women to lift each other up and what does that mean to you?
Successful women need to uplift other women because women rarely get opportunities to be at the forefront. For me, personally, having an emotional quotient with my folk matters more than duty.
What does the International Women’s Day slogan, #ChoosetoChallenge mean for you?
In life, there are nothing but challenges. If challenges weren’t there, there would be no result.
Personally, I love challenges.
On International Women's Day, what is the most important message you want to send out to young women thinking about pursuing entrepreneurship?
Move ahead with a clear vision! Dare to take on the challenges that come your way, while being trustworthy and transparent.
It’s time to create an empire of your own.
